A BEER-infused cheese has today been launched in Morrisons.
Ilchester Beer Cheese is being sold to tie in with International Beer Day tomorrow.
Back in 1962 Ken Seaton, the founder of Ilchester Cheese, discovered adding beer to cheese helped to preserve it and gave it a good taste.
When it first launched, it reportedly caused such an outrage that people boycotted it, even though they’d have needed to eat over nine kilograms to consume the equivalent of a pint.
Dan Barrett, Morrisons cheese buyer, said: “Customers have told us they like to try new flavours, so we are offering them a product which combines two of the nation’s favourites – ale and cheddar.”
