A 33 YEAR-OLD electric milk float, lovingly restored by a South Lakes couple, has been unveiled at Kirkby Lonsdale market.
Sarah Cutter and Scott Gardner first came across the vehicle, a Wales & Edwards Quartermaster, on eBay.
The pair, who live in Kirkby Lonsdale and run a fruit and vegetable business in Ingleton, got to work breathing life back into the old float.
They will use it on their local milk round, which they started around a year-and-a-half ago.
South Lakes MP Tim Farron also attended the unveiling. According to Miss Cutter, he and his team were very helpful in moving things forward when it came to getting the vehicle registered.
Mr Farron said: “I’m so glad that we’ve been able to get the float back on the road so they are able to provide this brilliant service right to people’s doorsteps.”
