CUMBRIA County Council has joined dozens of other councils in seeking a more sustainable future for public health funding in the UK.

A letter outlining the case has been signed by council leaders from across the country, as far afield as Cumbria to the Isles of Scilly.

They are asking the government to work with them to prevent ill health, reduce health inequalities and support a sustainable health and social care system.

Every council will have less to spend this year on public health than in 2018/19, said CCC.
