AIR crash investigators were deployed to a fell east of Penrith, after a 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries following a glider crash.
Police were called at about 2pm on Wednesday to the report of a glider crashing in the area of Cross Fell in the Pennines.
The boy was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by air ambulance. He suffered serious injuries.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is investigating, with Cumbria Police assisting on site.

A spokesman for the investigation branch confirmed: “The AAIB has sent a team to investigate an accident involving a glider that occurred at Kirkland, Cumbria.”
