NEPAL beckons for two National Trust rangers who will be flying out to the 9th World Ranger Congress in November.

The South Lakes team colleagues, Jo Williams from Hawkshead and Leila Todhunter from Ambleside, will be sharing knowledge, ideas and best practices with rangers from all over the world.

Themes covered during the five-day event in Sauraha - five hours' drive from Kathmandu - are to include the importance of women in the workplace; support and partnership with local communities; how technology can help; and the welfare of rangers, especially in countries where they risk their lives to protect the natural world.

Nepal, the 2019 congress venue, has emerged as a world leader in anti-poaching.

Meanwhile, this October will see the National Trust in Ambleside host the annual meeting of the Countryside Management Association.
