THE National Trust is leading an event to raise awareness of sheep worrying and crimes relating to dogs and wildlife.

This takes place next Wednesday, August 28 at Stickle Barn, Langdale at 10am, supported by local police, with other agencies on hand to give advice and information to visitors and residents.

Farmers have been asked to display posters advertising the event, which is being held largely in response to incidents of sheep worrying in the area.

The trust requests dog-owners to keep their dog in sight and under control at all times, using a lead, if requested.

Dog owners should also watch out for local notices because there may be restrictions in woodland or farmland at sensitive times of the year, such as during the lambing season.

It is always imperative for owners to pick up after their dogs and dispose of dog poo bags correctly.
