SETTLE Stories' Lazy Sunday Afternoon Film Club is to screen a documentary about India's broom-makers and lowest caste groups.
The film, Jharu Katha Broom Stories, starts at 3pm this Sunday (August 25, 2019) at The Joinery, Settle. Tickets are £5 including tea or coffee.
The documentary by award-winning filmmaker Navroze Contractor features conversations about "the poverty, humiliation and robust survival of India’s most downtrodden caste groups".
He said: "As I have seen the lives of broom-makers closely, it became easy for me to make a film on them. We spent nearly two months with the cast, made them feel comfortable and then only put them in front of the camera.”
The Lazy Afternoon Film Club takes place on the last Sunday of every month.
