I AM led to believe that many of the new houses being built in Kendal and surrounding districts are being purchased by people from Preston, Manchester and the like.

Why are we building houses for commuters to travel up and down the M6, adding to the carbon footprint when houses can be built near their jobs?

If these house weren’t built this would enable Kendal to maintain its status as a country town for country people, rather than a superb of industrial north Lancashire.

It is sad that we’re building all these houses with little thought being given to the infrastructure in our area for schools, roads etc. What will come next -tower blocks?
