HER Royal Highness Princess Anne paid a visit to Ulverston and Barrow today.

In Ulverston, she visited the Save the Children shop - being a patron of the charity - where she met and chatted with volunteers.

She also went to see the South Lakes Birth Centre at Furness General Hospital, Barrow.

HRH met with midwifery staff at the £12 million state-of-the-art unit along with various other people, including Claire Hensman, the Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria and Kathryn Gutteridge, president of the Royal College of Midwives, of which the Princess is also patron.
