TRAPPED casualties were rescued following a road traffic collision on the A591 yesterday afternoon.

Two fire engines and a rapid response vehicle were called to the incident in Staveley, near Kendal, at 4.55pm.

On arrival firefighters found the collision to have involved three vehicles, with two people trapped inside.

Crews utilised Clan Lukas equipment, medical equipment and one hose reel jet to extricate the casualties, who were then handed into the care of ambulance crews. The fire service was in attendance for around one hour and 15 minutes.
