BURTON Fellwalkers, led by Clive Horsford, set off from Kirkby Moor to ascend Great Burney where views from the summit were extensive in all directions. The walkers then passed Little Burney to reach the lane bordering Subberthwaite Common, close to the bronze-age settlements. On the common the group stopped for refreshments before reaching the road leading to Low Heathwaite farm. Continuing south along the road, a footpath to the east was encountered and followed to Knott End Farm, from there, progress was uphill along footpaths passing Knittleton to reach the Woodland Road returning to the starting point. For more fellwalkers information telephone the secretary Kath Kirkman on 01524-781245 or visit fellwalkers.burtonweb.org.uk.

Tim is the author of two books loosely based around his experiences working in Saudi Arabia and the Far East. Following the success of his first book The Adman – A Moroccan Affair, Tim recently published a sequel The Adman – Top Girl, which he was happy to sign for members. Tim’s website is timothydickinson.co.uk.
