A CHARITY is seeking volunteers to help protect Morecambe Bay’s birds.
The ‘Natural Ambassadors’ will help the public to spot avians through the telescope and encourage them to keep a safe distance from roosting birds.
A spokesperson for Morecambe Bay Partnership, which is running the volunteer scheme, said: “Thousands of waders and wildfowl use Morecambe Bay as a vital stop-off to rest and refuel to survive the winter.
“Many people are unaware of how important the Bay is for wildfowl and waders.
“As a result, sadly the Bay’s birds are often frightened away from their feeding and roosting grounds.”
A workshop is being held on September 25 from 7pm to 9pm at Over Kellet Village Hall. It wil introduce the Natural Ambassador role and provide information on wintering birds. To book, visit morecambebay.org.uk.
