WHAT began as a sharp pain in my jaw when walking up hills, evolved to pain in front of my right ear and chest. After several incidents I went to my GP. The locum looked serious. It was Friday afternoon. Two hours later I received a call to head for ER and stop by the surgery on the way. A friend popped in at the right time to take me. I didn’t believe anything was wrong except that I’d been working day and night. Four hours later, I was checked in. Doctors said I had to wait to go to Blackpool for an angiogram. I thought they had looked at the wrong ECG. I had a healthy lifestyle and was fit. With three phones on the go, I continued my work. I played scrabble, talked and laughed. Doctors and nurses were brilliant. Finally, the Blackpool day arrived. My left artery was 80 per cent blocked and cured by a stent. I walked out the same day healed.

On October 14 last year, I wrote the Faith Viewpoint article Narrow Lanes, about blockages and our attitude to refugees, ending with the words 'perhaps there is something wrong with my heart.' It was published on November 22, the day I went to Blackpool.

While I was writing on one plane, a parallel internal experience was coming to light. We call this prophecy, a gift of the Spirit, who is one of the three persons of God. Whatever your beliefs, you and I are part of a divine plan. Want to know your part? Ask Jesus.
