A MOUNTAIN rescue team was called to action after a walker sustained an injury.

The injured man had been walking along the Pennine Way from Dufton to Alston, on Sunday, when he hurt his ankle and was unable to continue the walk.

A Penrith Mountain Rescue Team spokesman said: "Two Land Rovers were deployed to drive along the track from Garrigill to Greg's hut where they had sought shelter. The casualty and his two companions were driven to their accommodation at Alston."

It took four volunteers two hours to complete the rescue.
