TO HELP celebrate the harvest season, churches around the Kent Estuary are running recycling collections.

Sound or broken items may be taken to:

- coffee morning at Levens Methodist Church this Saturday (September 21) from 10am to 11.30am

- St Thomas' church centre, Milnthorpe, between now and September 29

- and the Athenaeum, Heversham, on Saturday, October 5, from 2pm to 4pm, when tea, coffee and WI cakes will be served.

Items being collected include jewellery, watches, old or current British or foreign currency, mobile phones, cameras, electronic gadgets (make sure data has been deleted from mobiles and computers), spectacles and sunglasses and all kinds of postage stamps.

Meanwhile, St John's Church in Levens is among local churches encouraging people to reflect on caring for the world at harvest time. Visitors will be able to pick up a leaflet from the welcome table to guide them around six spaces between Monday, September 30 and Friday, October 4 (except for Thursday morning).
