GRANGE-OVER-SANDS...

AS PART of the Green Door Art Trail from September 27-29, Grange-over-Sands artist Steve Trevillion and Storth artist, Delcia McNeil, along with visiting artist Helen McHugh, will be holding a pop-up gallery at 1 Main Street (Old Natwest Bank), LA11 6DS. Their exhibition of collages, mixed media paintings, digital art, ceramics and wall hangings is called Transformations. Opening times are Friday (7pm-9pm); Saturday and Sunday (10am-5pm). 

SOUTH Lakeland Age UK is holding a step out and dance ceilidh on September 27 (2pm-4pm) at the Victoria Hall, Grange. The band Rascal Fayre will be playing for dancing or listening. AT GRANGE Probus Club’s meeting, guest speaker Dave Walsh gave a talk on the History of Farrers of Kendal. He explained how the coffee and tea processors and merchants had been based in Kendal since 1819 and how the business had evolved over the years, splitting into two companies in 1982. Their bicentenary had been marked by a recent visit by the Countess of Wessex. The club’s next meeting will be on October 14 (10.30am-noon) when David Walmsley will talk about the Natural History of Bees. Grange Probus welcomes retired men and women as members and meets on the second Monday of every month at the Netherwood Hotel. THE next Cartmel Food Market will be held tomorrow (Friday, 10am-4pm) in Devonshire Square.

LOWER Holker Village hall is holding a quiz night on September 26 (7.30pm). It is also hosting a publicity day for Bay Search and Rescue on October 6 (10am-4pm) which includes a display of their vehicles and presentations. 

THE Friends of St Peter’s, Field Broughton, hold their monthly social evening on September 27 (6.30pm-9.30pm) in the parish rooms.

THERE will be a produce market in Newton-in-Cartmel Village Hall on September 28 (10am-noon.

CARTMEL Village Hall will host a craft fair on September 28 and 29.
