DECISIONS is a quality quartet of one-act plays by three talented British playwrights, including the master himself, Alan Ayckbourn.

Staged by Staveley Roundhouse Theatre from Tuesday until Friday, September 24-27 (7.30pm), the well observed, funny and charming plays are deftly performed by an eight strong cast of well-known and accomplished local thespians: Kathryn Nicholson, Kate Vernon, Clare Walker, Sarah Waterhouse, Kevin Beecroft, Bob Christie, Lewis Hill and Jim Thompson.

Fliss Pocock is once again in the director's chair. She says the plays are just four of many fantastic one-act plays that are rarely performed: "It’s a lot of fun working with the actors on the different nuances of each character and these plays are great showcase for their talent."

Among the four is Alan Ayckbourn's Between Mouthfuls, about two couples who are dining in a restaurant and discover - with hilarious results - that they have an unwelcome common bond.

Early Blight by Jean McConnell is a heartbreaking exploration of the relationship between a difficult elderly mother and her dutiful daughter.

Also featured is Day Trippers, also penned by Jean McConnell. The playlet finds Doris and Beryl in a hilarious but embarrassing situation at the beach when they go on their works outing to the seaside.

Last, but not least, is Luck of the Draw by AS Robertson. It tells of The Committee, which welcomes Mr Pessel to the Shelf Union Social Club for the very serious business of drawing the Christmas raffle.

All in all, a fab foursome.
