FIRE crews were called to a vehicle fire on the A66 westbound near Redhills, Penrith.
They were notified at around 2pm on Tuesday (September 17).
A spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue said that, on arrival, "crews found one large waste transporting container well alight."
A breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and compressed air foam solution were used to extinguish the fire.
There were no injuries and the fire service was in attendance for around one hour.
