A LAKE DISTRICT hotel has received a dual nomination in the National Fitness Awards to be held at the end of November.

Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa, between Windermere and Ambleside, has been nominated by judges in the ‘best hotel and spa’ category, while the resort’s health club is up for ‘health club of the year’.

The National Fitness Awards, the winners of which will be announced at a ceremony in Leicester on November 29, recognise ‘achievement and excellence in all corners of the fitness industry’.

Michael Kay, group leisure manager at English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, which manages Low Wood Bay, said: “The National Fitness Awards are among the industry’s finest accolades.

“To be shortlisted again this year for not one but two categories, is testament to everyone’s continued hard work and commitment to the resort, its guests and members.

“We offer some of the most extensive facilities in the country and we’re extremely proud to lead the way not just in the range of our activities but also with an exceptional level of service and commitment from our team.”

The next stage of the judging process for the awards will see members of the awards team conduct a site visit, where they will interview members of staff.

Judith Halkerston, event director with the National Fitness Awards, said: “The National Fitness Awards are celebrating their 10th birthday this year and, with more entries than ever before, our finalists really have reason to celebrate too, as it’s a huge achievement to have made the shortlist and is testament to the teams behind each of the facilities."
