WINDERMERE and Bowness Forward is promoting a Windermere Welcome volunteering opportunity at Windermere Train Station on October 18, 20 and 21 (10am-3pm).

The group is encouraging new volunteers to join Helen Moriarty (Project Manager) at a time that suits them (one hour long shifts will be available).

Registration, training and an overview of the volunteer perks will be given on the day.

Together with Lake District National Park Authority the long-term aspiration is to recruit a pool of volunteers who will welcome visitors during busy periods, give them a free map and direct them to the TIC.

It is believed that the welcome volunteers will create a positive sense of arrival; improve first impressions; help generate footfall to Windermere by directing visitors to Ellerthwaite Square bus stop and ease visitor confusion regarding the location of the lake.
