ALTHOUGH we love our aging relatives, we might not always be in the best position to care for them as they get older and need more help and specialised attention.

We also want to know that they are in the hands of professionals who have had the right training, and the right temperament, to look after them.

The Old Vicarage in Allithwaite, Cumbria, is a professional and friendly care home situated in a beautiful natural setting, offering quality facilities, activities, daytrips and top-notch food.

Now family-owned and run, The Old Vicarage previously belonged to the local parish church, St. Mary’s, before being converted into an elderly care home in the 1980s. It was purchased in 1994, by Dr & Mrs Siddiqi, who had it extended and refurbished to a high standard.

It is currently managed by their son, Kamal, ably supported by a team of 20 dedicated staff who deliver safe, compassionate and friendly care that links directly to residents’ individual personal needs.

It is important to the staff that the residents are supported in their physical and mental wellbeing, and they are encouraged to continue to lead lives that are as full and rewarding as possible. By getting to know as much as possible about their residents, the staff are able to tailor activities to their personal interests.

A programme of engaging group activities might include cooking, craft work, music sessions, or gardening, or may involve a trip to the theatre, museum or a local garden centre. There’s always lots going on for residents to get involved in.

The Old Vicarage is keen to recruit a Senior Care Assistant and a Day Care Assistant to work four or five days per week, within the friendly and supportive caring team.

Renumeration will include weekend and overtime pay, plus travel allowance. The company also offers ongoing NVQ training and wage increments.
