CAMPAIGNERS battling to reopen the derelict Grange Lido as a fully functioning facility presented their plans to a national conference last week.

Representatives of the Save Grange Lido group (SGL) addressed the National Lido Conference, which was held at Cheltenham’s art deco lido.

SGL chair Phil Bradby gave a presentation at the event about the work they are doing to progress the restoration plans to the next stage and also its fundraising strategy, which includes the new Friends’ Scheme which will be launched very soon.

SGL were also part of a report into the revival of open air swimming on BBC 1’s Inside Out programme, which aired footage filmed during the successful open weekend at the pool in August.

And the group said they will be holding two more days of free guided tours which will take place tomorrow and Saturday, October 25 and 26.

Tciekts for the tour are already sold out.

The campaign was given another boost when a six-year-old youngster from Keighley, West Yorkshire, presented a cheque to the group for £497 achieved through the fundraising events he and his mum organised.

The Community Benefit Society’s first fundraising target was £30,000 against which they raised £39,784.

"We are hugely grateful to everyone who has donated so far,” said Mr Bradby.
