A PLANNING application has been submitted to transform a disused office into emergency accommodation for families.
South Lakeland District Council’s (SLDC) planning committee will consider approval for a property in Grange to be turned into a place committed to providing emergency accommodation for the most 'vulnerable members of the society'.
The proposal suggests the former Citizens Advice Bureau, which is located off Hampsfell Road, could cater for three family units.
However, resident Frank McCall, who used to work as an advisor for the Citizens Advice Bureau, said he thought the surrounding area was 'unsafe'.
“It’s an unsuitable building for vulnerable families - it will put them at a greater risk” he said. "The property inside is too narrow, and the surrounding area is unsafe.
“There’s bad lighting and the roads are dangerous.
Grange town councillor Tracy Hathorn said the town council had no objection to the planning application.
