A WOMAN In Mind performed by Ulverston Outsiders sees Susan starved of love and affection by her rather boring husband, Gerald, and her son who is ashamed of her, so Susan conjures up an imaginary family with an adoring husband, daughter and son. The action is seen through Susan's eyes, the audience sees what's in her mind. But gradually Susan loses control over her dream, which breaks down into a nightmare when her real and imaginary families clash. This dark comedy is showing at the Coronation Hall from Tuesday (November 19) to November 22 (7.30pm).

THE Trials of Cato, a band that arrived fully formed and functioning a few years back, have since torn a shape very much their own into the canvas of the UK folk scene. the trio may inhabit the genre with a grateful respect for its history, but their debut album moves all the way from 18th century ballads to stomping dances tunes; and they hope to twist its old bones into something febrile and contemporary. You can see them at The Platform, Morecambe, tonight (Thursday, 7.30pm).
