CUMBRIA Wildlife Trust is hosting a free family day out at South Walney Nature Reserve, home to the North West’s only breeding grey seal colony.

There will be a host of activities on offer including a ‘seal cam cinema’ and face painting, while experts will be on hand at the five bird hides to help people identify wildlife.

There is also the chance to take a guided walk over to Foulney Island and be ‘stranded’ by the high tide, presenting the opportunity to see flocks of wading birds. This last activity requires booking, which can be done by calling 01539 816 300.

Visit cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk for more about the event, which is being held from 11am-3pm on on November 16.
