NORMAN Holloway's picture in the Gazette on November 7, 2019, showed the coat of arms on the almshouses on Aynam Road, built in 1887 at a cost of £4,250 donated by Mr John Sleddall.
He was also the first owner of the Sleddall Hall antique shop in Wildman Street.
The almshouses were built to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, and included a small chapel which was converted into two further homes in 1986
Unfortunately Storm Desmond flooded all the houses in December 2015 and the residents were unable to return for at least two-and-a-half years.
