A NEW Sunday bus service will begin operating from next weekend, starting in Kendal, just in time for the run-up to Christmas.
Running nine journeys every Sunday, the new service will link Oxenholme with Kendal town centre via the Westmorland Hospital, Heron Hill, Valley Drive, Sandylands, Appleby Road and Shap Road.
The first journey will leave the bus station at 9.20am, on Sunday November, 17 and will run every hour until 5.20pm.
The service will be run by Stagecoach, under contract to Cumbria County Council, utilising funding made available by the developer of the nearby Sainsbury’s store that opened in the town last year.
The contract to operate the service will run for four years.
This will be the first new bus service for many parts of Kendal for over 10 years.
Stagecoach weekly passes and Megariders, and English National Concessionary Travel Scheme passes will be valid on this service.
