Carlisle United last week sacked manager Steven Pressley with chairman Andrew Jenkins citing no “evidence of progress” behind the decision. Our readers had their say on the News & Star website and Facebook page.

It’s been coming for weeks now. A win in the Leasing.com Trophy would have made us progress and more prize money. I guess enough was enough when it was almost the first team playing last night against a team that would take heart from beating us and we don’t need the teams below us getting any motivation. Bridges or Granger for manager.

Kenny Brown for manager

I personally don’t see Chris Lumsdon as a yes man. I see him as a genuine fan, a man with passion for the club who let’s be honest knows a thing or two about the game. I reckon there will be far worse than him applying. Good luck to whoever takes that poisoned chalice.

Judge Robert Rinder

Totally agree, he’s one of the few who talks sense, I hope he doesn’t think of applying for the post, it’s a no win situation, he’ll never please everyone no matter how good they may become. Get Warnock, he has had complete success in transforming rubbish into promotion teams wherever he has been, we also have a cushion of some cash from our cup run so far I’m sure that would cover his wages for six months!

Harraby Boy

Long overdue, everything he said was an excuse, fact is they just aren’t good enough, need an old head in now to make sure we stay in the league, then look for a young manager to take the reigns for a few years.

TinHat

I feel for Pressley here a bit because they haven’t exactly gave him the financial backing to buy quality players, he has had to make do with what he has been given. With those players available for selection and to bring results up to “scratch” who are they going to employ as manager Merlin?

CUOSC say “now is the time to make changes at the top so we can turn our season around”. Better start at board level then, get you lot and a few directors who just leech of the club out, that would be a good start.

Johnstone Bridge

I’m afraid to say that whoever comes in now all they are doing is managing the decline, the club is only going in one direction without massive changes from the very top down.

pete thegreet

Who is going to come to a club with no cash for players. New owners need to come in.

bill foy

The club has no money so whoever is manager has their hands tied somewhat. But ultimately, it’s that board that wants sacked.

Notanother1

It’s going to be close, Gavin on £50 a week or Jose on £200,00 a day!

Harraby Boy

It’s a down at heel club with no money going nowhere face reality.

Same old story, short termism will totally ruin us one day...maybe some of you complaining ‘fans’ will come back now eh, nah thought not!

Jon Burgon

There’s not much you can do when the board get rid of all the players and start a fresh each season, apart from the deadwood.

Andrew Hale

Too early for Danny Grainger?

Alan Little

Ian Evatt from Barrow please.

Chris Brown
