AHEAD of next year's 75th anniversary of VE Day, a group is being set up in Milnthorpe to help organise the celebrations.
Milnthorpe Parish Council heard the first meeting would take place on November 25 at 1.30pm, at St Thomas' s Church in the village.
Next year's early May bank holiday is to be moved back by four days for the whole of the UK - to Friday, 8 May, 2020 - to coincide with the anniversary.
VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, marks the end of fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe, towards the end of World War Two.
The holiday will be part of a three-day weekend of events, including churches taking part in a Ringing Out for Peace.
