A NEW film documenting the work of two farmers across a year made its debut at the Kendal Mountain Festival.

‘Nowt but a Fleeting Thing’, a Guardian-commissioned piece, focuses on the efforts of Adam Crowe and Helen Rawlinson as the couple attempt to establish their business at Witherslack.

It is the result of a collaboration between social change organisation the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and Cumbria-based film producer Land & Sky Media.

A JRF spokeswoman said: “We hope this film can provide a window into the lives of those who create the food we eat, as well as shine a light on how these communities are held back by low pay and long hours.”

Filmmaker Dom Bush, of Land & Sky Media, said: "This film is incredibly important to me as someone who grew up in rural Cumbria.

"It felt really significant to tell this story and highlight overlooked issues faced by the people here.

"We really hope this film can provide opportunities for meaningful conversations about the environment and economy, so we better support the people who work the land".
