STEALING Thunder Storytellers perform again on December 13 (7.30pm) at the

village hall, Brigsteer. (Please note date change due to election on the Thursday). Mummers and Miracles will be presented by Hugh Lupton. A celebration of the songs, customs and stories of the Midwinter Season - a spicy well-mulled mixture of ghosts, angels, births, resurrections, snowfall, mice, music, mysteries and the Mari Lwyd. THE traditional Advent carol service by candlelight will take place at St John’s Church, Helsington, on December 15, (4pm). The singing at this Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will once again be accompanied by the Brigsteer Band and the lessons will be read by members of the community. The service, led by lay members of the congregation, will be followed by a convivial time during which mulled wine and mince pies will be served.

BRIGSTEER WI will be carol singing around the village on December 16,

accompanied by the Brigsteer Band. Singers and musicians to meet in the bus shelter (6pm). All are welcome to join in.

A SEASONAL Snow-cial takes place at the village hall, Brigsteer, on December 20 (7.30pm). This is a community event with quizzes, games, singalong Christmas music with the Brigsteer Band, mince pies and mulled wine. There will be a collection for the village hall funds and the British Heart Foundation.

NEW Year's Eve Ceilidh is back at the village hall, Brigsteer, on December 31 (7.30pm). Tickets to include a glass of sparkling wine and a full evening's entertainment including dancing, fun, games and a chance to renew auld acquaintances. Food will be a Jacob's Join and take your own bottle. For tickets,
