POLICE investigating two separate assaults on a teenage girl and a woman in Kendal believe they may be linked.

A 15-year-old was grabbed and threatened by a man-- thought to be in his 40s - with a Swiss army knife at about 9.30pm on Friday on Sandes Avenue, before she managed to run away.

The following day at around 8.15am a man put his hand over the mouth of a 37-year-old woman on the riverside, next to Dockray Hall industrial estate.

She also managed to escape.

Police said the girl described her attacker as being in his 40s, with a short beard.

The woman described the man who assaulted her as 5ft 6in and thin, with stubble.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed either of these assaults or anyone who was in the area at these times who may have seen a man matching the descriptions, to call police on 101, quoting log numbers 192 of the 29th November and log 65 of the 30th November.
