A luxury hotel is celebrating picking up another accolade.

Windermere’s Cedar Manor has been given the AA Gold award and five stars for its guest accommodation, along with a breakfast award.

The 10 room hotel is run by Caroline and Jonathan Kaye who have already won awards for design, customer service and their green credentials.

This included taking the sustainability award at the Cateys, organised by The Caterer magazine, last year.

The AA introduced a star rating system to classify hotels in 1912 and in 2006 developed common quality standards for inspecting and rating accommodation.

These standards and rating categories are now applied throughout the British Isles.

Five stars are awarded to businesses which show awareness of each guest's needs.

All bedrooms must be en-suite or have a private bathroom, with high quality beds and furnishings.

Breakfast must include specials or homemade items, high quality ingredients and fresh local produce. AA Gold Stars are awarded to the very best properties offering high levels of quality throughout and outstanding levels of hospitality and service.

Jonathan said: “We are delighted to be given this gold award and five stars, the finest accolade we can achieve."

Cedar Manor's exterior has recently been given a full makeover, and the new brand logo - distinctively seen from the main road north from Windermere – has been applied across their website and social media platforms. Jonathan and Caroline have also started a new supper service and will be launching afternoon teas in the New Year.

The couple are previous winners of the Best Small Hotel, national and international, at the Considerate Hoteliers awards and Best Small Hotel in Cumbria.
