TWO hotels in Windermere have won prestigious accolades in recognition of their excellent and high quality services.

Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa topped the bill in the ‘Best Hotel and Spa’ category at the National Fitness Awards ceremony held at Athena in

Leicester.

While award-winning Cedar Manor won the ultimate award from the hospitality industry inspectors.

Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa recently completed the final phases of its multi-million refurbishment which included the addition of an indoor and outdoor spar area and the new restaurant Blue Smoke on the Bay.

Michael Kay, group leisure manager from English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, which manages the Health Club at Low Wood Bay, said: “We’re thrilled to have been placed top of the class in this category and to get such a ringing endorsement from the judges.

“It’s a reflection on how good Low Wood Bay and its health club has become with the addition of the spa facilities, but also great recognition of the hard work and great service offered from the health club and spa team.

“The award win is an early Christmas present for the team.”

The health club now offers in excess of 40 indoor and outdoor classes for members as well as extensive facilities including a spacious fitness studio with 40 cardio and resistance stations.

Meanwhile Cedar Manor received the AA Gold award and five stars for its guest accommodation, along with a coveted breakfast award.

Five stars means awareness of each guest’s needs with nothing being too much trouble.

All bedrooms must be en suite or have a private bathroom, with excellent quality beds and furnishings.

Breakfast must include specials/home-made items, high quality ingredients, and fresh local produce.

Based on the outskirts of Windermere, the Cedar Manor has ten luxurious rooms including a self-contained suite, and has won a host of top awards over the years since owners Caroline and Jonathan Kaye took the helm.

They have been prize winners for design, customer service, and green credentials, taking the sustainability award at the Cateys, the Oscars of the hospitality world.

Jonathan Kaye said: “We are delighted to be given this gold award and five stars, the finest accolade we can achieve.”

The Cedar Manor exterior has also recently been given a full makeover and the owners said they will be launching afternoon teas in the new year.
