ROTARY'S Wrap Up Cumbria campaign had the simple objective of collecting unwanted coats and redistributing them to those most in need this winter.
Rotary clubs in south Cumbria started the campaign in October, not knowing what the response would be. We need not have worried because, as usual, the generosity of the public was overwhelming.
Through a network of collection points, Rotary collected a staggering 1,980 coats.
In addition we collected hats, scarves, gloves and jumpers, all of which have been distributed through charities to those most in need this winter, and just in time, judging by the recent cold snap.
Rotary would like to thank everyone who donated garments and had collection points, and all the charities involved who, by working together, have helped the homeless and those most in need as we enter the winter months.
On behalf of those who have benefited but you will never meet, thank you again for your incredible generosity and support.
Welma Robinson
South Cumbria Rotary president
