CHILDREN at the primary school have seen the amazing artwork from Class 4 (with many thanks to Claire and the extra helpers, too). The New York skyline is now all ready for the production of Annie. Class 2 was visited by Natasha Scullion, learning officer at the Windermere Jetty museum. With the help of artist Emma Eastman, the children were able to create some JMW Turner cloud-inspired pictures that are to be included in the museum's new interactive installation. The children found out a little more about the artist and his time in the Lake District. They created their own cloud artwork by first making a Turner sketchbook and then using magic mirror card to make the indentations for the ink before printing. Meanwhile, the pre-school is running a raffle to raise money to buy a new trike or two. To take part, message the pre-school via Facebook.

THE school will hold its Nativity service on Monday (December 16) at 2.30pm, and its carol service on Friday, December 20, at 1.15pm, both in the church. The services are open to all.

THE village’s carol service takes place on Sunday at 4pm. Everyone is very welcome to this special service.

THERE will be carol singing at Oxenholme railway station on Friday, December 20. from 5pm to 6.30pm, with a Salvation Army Band. Everyone welcome. There will also be carol singing around the tree outside the Public Hall on Sunday, December 22, at 7.30pm with musical accompaniment, free mulled wine and mince pies for all. It is hoped to make this an annual event. If rainy, the event will take place indoors.
