NEW and emerging artists are invited to enter Eden Arts’ ‘Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year 2020’ competition.
A select number of applicants will have their work showcased at the University of Cumbria’s Vallum gallery as well as on the Eden Arts website.
On the opening night of the Vallum exhibition the winner will be announced. They will receive £250 and will get the opportunity to undertake an Artist Residency at Eden Arts’ Penrith headquarters.
2019 winner Poppy Cookson went on to win a grant from the university and Cumbria grant-making organisation The Hadfield Trust.
She said: “It has been a fantastic opportunity and I am so glad I applied. I think this will definitely open doors for me.”
The sixth edition of the competition is open to 15 to 24-year-olds who live, work, or are from Cumbria. It is free to enter and artists of all media-types are invited to submit pieces.
Visit www.edenarts.co.uk/ycaoty to apply and for more information. The deadline for entries is February 2, 2020.
