Our guide to some of the main events taking place in the area this week:

1- Fleetwood Bac are bringing their tribute to the legendary rock band to the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, tomorrow night. Reportedly endorsed by Mick Fleetwood himself, they focus on the ‘Rumours’ era of the band. Advance tickets are £18.50 and can be purchased on the Brewery website. They are £20 on the door. Doors open at 8pm.

2 - Double-Ivor-Novello-Award-winning Chris Difford, co-founder of Squeeze, is bringing his music to Victoria Hall, Settle, on Saturday night. Doors open at 7.15pm and tickets can be booked online at settlevictoriahall.org.uk, over the phone on 01729 825718 or at the box office.

3 - Comedian Andy Parsons, known for being a panellist on TV’s Mock the Week for many years, will perform in Kendal tomorrow night, beginning at 8pm. Formerly a writer for Spitting Image, he is bringing his ‘Healing the Nation’ tour to the Brewery Arts Centre, with tickets available on the Brewery website. He is also performing at the Lancaster Grand Theatre tonight.

4 - Five-piece indie-folk band Elephant Sessions, from the Scottish Highlands, arrive at the Old Laundry Theatre, Bowness-on-Windermere, tonight. Proceedings get under way at 7.30pm with the band being supported by Memphis Gerald, whose music draws inspiration from the folk, indie and country scenes. Tickets for the event are £15 for adults and £10 for students and under-25s. They can be booked on the Old Laundry website.

5 - The public are invited to attend a day of Christmas fun at Ulverston’s Ford Park. this Sunday. There will be festive storytelling, crafts and activities for children. The event, taking place in the Williams Room, situated upstairs at The Coach House restaurant, begins at 10.30am and runs till 3.30pm. Admission is free, but some activities may involve a small charge.

6 - A day of festive fun for children is being held at Holker Hall, near Grange-over-Sands, on Sunday. There is gingerbread decorating at the Ilex Bar & Brasserie from 11am to 4pm, while there is a game of ‘find the elves’ running at the hall at the same time. And there will even be an opportunity for little ones to meet Santa’s reindeer from 2.30pm-4.30pm. Tickets can booked online on the Holker Hall website.

7 - Burneside Brass Band are playing at Windermere Golf Club tomorrow evening, beginning at 7pm. The group, which has been playing for more than 25 years and finished second in this year’s regional brass band competition, is also performing twice in Kendal on Sunday - at the Factory Tap at 4pm and at Sandylands Church at 6.30pm.

8 - Zeffirellis in Ambleside is welcoming the ‘Jack Yardley Quintet’ on Saturday night. Jack is a drummer who received first class honours at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He will be joined on stage by other up-and-coming musicians including two saxophonists, a bassist and a pianist. The free-to-attend event gets under way at 8.30pm.

9 - People are invited to Carlisle Cathedral to take part in its annual Christmas concert tomorrow night. The event will see the cathedral choirs sing carols and songs to spread some Christmas cheer in the heart of the festive season. Tickets are £10 with under-18s getting in free. Proceedings get under way at 7.30pm.

10 - Settle’s Victoria Hall will host the Opera-lele Christmas show on Sunday. The group specialises in opera and musical theatre - blending this with the twang of the ukulele. Tickets for the show, which runs from 2.30-5.30pm, are £10 and can be bought online, over the phone or at the box office.
