THE Christmas fair at Levens Village Institute raised £500 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
The event featured activities specifically designed to get children more involved in fundraising, including a game of 'guess the address of the gingerbread house' and a Christmas-card-designing competition judged by Santa himself.
Susan Beckwith, one of the organisers of the event, said: "This year we wanted to get children excited about the idea of fundraising.
"It’s especially important that we get children involved, as the money goes towards helping people of their age across the country.”
Sandra Jones, community fundraising manager with NSPCC Cumbria: “It’s excellent to see the support of fundraisers across Cumbria in supporting the NSPCC.
"The money raised will go towards our Christmas campaign, where we want to ‘light up every childhood.’"
