10 must visit events this weekend

1 Kendal Cycle Club are ready to welcome new riders this weekend.

If you’re interested in joining their Saturday ride for the first time, visit www.kendal.cc/saturday-club-ride and register by emailing rides@kendal.cc.

The ride will leave at 9.30am from Kendal Leisure Centre, so it is asked that you arrive at the back of the car park for 9.15am.

2 Have you made a New Year resolution to start running?

Time to get yourself moving by signing up to parkrun.

The free 5k event kicks off in Barrow Park at 9am every Saturday.

Runners of all abilities and ages are welcomed, as well as four legged friends.

3 Join The Native Cult at Hawkshead Brewery for fresh music and a pint this Sunday.

Have you got something to sing, say or play? Grab the mic!

The event is free entry from 5pm-8pm.

4 Join Peter Rabbit for some scrumptious party food including sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps and cakes this weekend.

A guest of honour will read The Tale of Peter Rabbit and every child receives a small gift, a balloon and their very own rabbit ears.

5 Head to The Dock Museum this weekend for an educational day out for the whole family.

The museum will be open from 11am-4pm.

The exhibits show off the towns history, from shipbuilding to the railway to the World War II bombings of the town.

6 Experience the magic of cinema at The Roxy, Ulverston.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be showing today at 7.30pm, tomorrow at 4.15pm and Sunday at 7.30pm.

Cats will be showing today at 2pm and 4.15pm, tomorrow at 1.30pm and Sunday at 5.20pm.

7 Head to Kendal Leisure Centre today for a Toddler Time session.

The session is held from 1.30pm in the Learner pool and is suitable for participants of all levels, aged from one to four.

This is a mixed-gender swimming activity.

8 Make your way down to the Newton Arms, Dalton, as they present a night with Chris Owen.

After a long sojourn of over 15 years, Chris started writing new songs in July and soon followed it up by attending his first open mic night at the Newton Arms in September.

Chris has since written a number of new songs which he has played to onlookers over the last few months.

Make sure you don’t miss his first full solo gig by turning up at 4pm this Sunday.

9 Sign up for Toddler Yoga in Barrow this weekend.

It is suitable for parents and children from walking to eight years-old.

Toddler yoga is a fun way to exercise, express, learn and relax together.

To sign up for a four week course a payment of £32 is required; there is also the option to add in photos for the added price of £1 a week.

10 Get fit this new year and head to Barrow’s Life Leisure Centre for a swim this weekend.

Todays early bird swim will take place from 6am-8.45am and the general swimming session will take place between 11am-3.30pm. Tomorrow and Sunday’s early bird swim will take place from 8am-8.45am and the general swimming session will take place between 12pm-4.30pm.
