R QUIRK's assertion that the votes cast in the 2019 election "reaffirmed" the 2016 referendum could not be further from the truth (Letters, December 19, 'Let that be an end to protests').
In the 2019 election 52.7 per cent of us voted for remain/second referendum parties while 47.3 per cent voted for Brexit parties. I am afraid that we are leaving on the 2016 referendum and nothing else. Nevertheless, I do agree we have to move on. Perhaps we can all become friends again.
