POLICE and other emergency services attended a traffic incident on Blackhall Road, Kendal, earlier today.
The incident occurred around 1.30pm this afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said: "The incident involved a motorbike and Citroen C3.
"The driver of the Citroen, a man from Carnforth, was uninjured.
"The rider of the motorcycle, a 55-year-old man from Kendal, suffered injuries not believed to be serious, and was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, by air ambulance."
Eyewitness reports suggested extensive damage to the motorcycle as well as to the front of the car on the driver's side.
Police reported one lane of the road had now reopened.
