Two leading figures in a Furness company have been named among the most inspiring 100 people in UK industry.

The Manufacturer magazine’s annual awards for the 100 most inspirational individuals have been announced at a gala reception at the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool.

Oxley Group chief executive Darren Cavan was named in the category of inspiring leader, while marketing manager, Jayne Moorby was recognised in the category of driver of cultural change.

The Manufacturer Top 100 awards scheme is run by the magazine in partnership with Cranfield University.

The inspiring leader category recognises leaders who create employment and are committed to investing in developing their manufacturing business through people, processes and technology.

Jayne’s award recognises those who alter popular perceptions of manufacturing and inspire young people and women.

She has been involved in delivering cultural change within Oxley by focusing on communication and team spirit and family values.

Jayne has also led Oxley’s community outreach programme, supporting over 12,000 local young people with employability skills and inspiring them into aerospace and STEM careers.

Alongside this, Oxley has driven best practice nationally through the Women in Aviation and Aerospace and Women in Defence Charters.

Darren has worked at Oxley for 25 years.

As chief executive he has aimed to double turnover in five years and treble it in 10 years, something which the firm is on track to achieve.

Oxley Group designs and manufactures LED lighting systems and high specification electronic components for the defence and aerospace market. The top 100 were announced in November.
