MICHELIN-starred chefs are coming together to host a series of special nights in Cumbria.

The five chefs are coming from across England and the Nordics to Grasmere’s The Forest Side, the Michelin-starred, four AA Rosette restaurant and rooms which welcomed Paul Leonard as its new head chef in November.

The chefs who will be coming in February to showcase their talents are Alex Bond (Alchemilla Restaurant, Nottingham), Simon Martin (Mana, Manchester), Paul Proffitt (Henne Kirkeby Kro, Denmark), Michael Wignall (The Angel, Yorkshire) and Kenny Atkinson (House of Tides, Newcastle).

The Forest Side says it is aiming to showcase the food scene. The series will take the format of various dinners throughout the month, titled Forest Side’s February Feasts.

Speaking on the upcoming series, Paul Leonard said: “I’m incredibly excited to be welcoming such a brilliant line-up of chefs to The Forest Side’s kitchens.

“This year’s Michelin guide rightly recognised a lot of exciting talent, particularly amongst our neighbours in the north of the UK, so it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to be working alongside some of Europe’s best chefs.”

The series is being kicked off by Alex Bond, at the start of February. The chef heading to Cumbria from the Nordics is Paul Proffitt of Denmark’s two Michelin starred Henne Kirkeby Kro. With a menu founded on classics but with a subtle modernity, Proffitt’s cooking uses top-notch seasonal produce which celebrates Henne’s kitchen garden and the surrounding farmland – just as Leonard’s cooking does at Forest Side.

The dinners will take the format of six course tasting menus with snacks, showcasing a range of exclusive and signature dishes from the chefs. Guests will also be greeted with a glass of Champagne Delamotte, one of the oldest Champagne houses.

The dates for the chefs are Alex Bond February 5; Simon Martin February 11; Paul Proffitt February 19; Michael Wignall February 25; Kenny Atkinson February 26.

Prices will start at £349 for dinner, bed and breakfast for two. There is limited availability for guests who just wish to dine. This would be £90 per person
