NORMAN Holloway's picture in the Gazette on January 9, 2020 showed the large letter “B” underneath the clock on Kendal Town Hall.
This recognised the Bindloss family's £10,000 contribution towards the cost of extending the town hall, in 1893.
The extensions included the clock tower with the carillon of 11 bells, first rung to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897; they play a different tune every day of the week.
- Do you know where and what this week's picture is? See the Gazette on January 23 for the answer.
