Businesses are being invited to join a steering group to influence the potential launch of an important new apprenticeship.
Carlisle College is asking local firms to join the group to help develop Improvement Apprenticeships within the college's 2020 apprenticeship provision.
The apprenticeships will be aimed specifically at those within the advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors, and will blend training in lean production, six sigma process improvement and change management principles, to provide businesses with the opportunity to develop their workforce in-line with lean manufacturing goals.
The college says it has identified a potential opportunity to offer the Level 3 Improvement Technician and Level 4 Improvement Practitioner programmes, which have been developed in collaboration with companies including BT, Toyota, Jaguar Land Rover and logistics firm Wincanton.
The college is hosting a steering group event in association with Pirelli later this month.
It will give local employers the chance to discuss and feedback on the potential apprenticeships, as well as time to examine the course content and take a collaborative view on how to deliver them.
The event will take place at Carlisle College on January 24 from 8am to 10.30am. A light breakfast is included and the meeting is due to begin at 8.30am.
