A NEW deputy medical director for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) has been appointed.
Dr Robin Proctor, currently the clinical director for the trust's core clinical services care group joined UHMBT in 2012 as a consultant radiologist.
Since 2018, he has spearheaded the establishment of a successful clinical radiology global fellows programme in partnership with the Royal College, Health Education England and Apollo Hospitals to bring experienced radiologists to England from India on an “earn, learn, return” basis. UHMBT piloted this with six colleagues having joined so far and the scheme is being rolled out across England.
As deputy medical director, Dr Proctor will promote close working between all of the trust’s five care groups and take a leading role in quality and safety within UHMBT.
He will continue to be involved in undergraduate education for radiology and ethics teaching within Lancaster Medical School at Lancaster University.
