The tent on New Road
A TENT has been erected on Kendal's New Road, acccompanied by a sign calling for a free car park in the town.
Occupant Jeff Hayton said Kendal was "dying on its feet" and one of the reasons for this was "a lack of free car parking."
An unofficial free car park used to exist on New Road until it was cordoned off by South Lakeland District Council early in 2018.
Mr Hayton also erected a tent in the same spot in January 2018 to protest against the closure, and a month later occupied a caravan. Both were removed.
