A SOUTH Lakes veterinary practice has won an exclusive award for its fantastic new bespoke centre.

Archway Vets, in Lindale Hill, Grange-over-Sands, has been awarded the runner-up prize for the architectural design of its premises at the prestigious National British Veterinary Hospital Association Design Awards 2019.

The new centre was designed by the same architects who developed celebrity vet Noel Fitzpatrick’s new location.

The team at Archway worked with Alex and Nicola Darvill from ACD Projects to thoughtfully and expertly design the new practice centre, with the focus on making visits as stress free as possible for animals and their owners.

On the night of the awards ceremony the judges presented a slideshow to illustrate how well the Grange practice had improved during their visit.

From a relaxing and ‘airy’ waiting room to state of the art operating theatres, modern consult rooms, laboratory and the rehabilitation unity with hydrotherapy and a waterfall, the judges acknowledged the South Lakes vets for their dedication and imagination.

Owner of the practice Jeremy Voakes, who attended the awards ceremony said: “We are proud to be recognised nationally for the award.

“And we are overwhelmed with feedback from our customers.

“In case you are wondering, the winner was a huge corporate practice that I am told cost £6 million.

“So as a relatively small independent practice we are delighted to have done Cumbria proud.”

The judges also praised the centre for continuing to provide out of hours emergency care.

They praised especially the nurse accommodation which enables the centre to have a nurse on site with any hospitalised pets throughout the night.
