MOLLY Straughton-Lowe, a pupil at Grange CE Primary School, was the delighted winner of a Christmas card design competition organised by MP Tim Farron.

She was presented with her prize of a book token and certificate at a school assembly by the Westmorland and Lonsdale MP.

“I had great fun choosing the winner but it was not an easy decision," said Mr Farron.

“Molly has done such a wonderful job in producing this great piece of artwork and I’m delighted that her design was seen and admired by residents across the South Lakes over Christmas.

“I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who took part in the competition, and the teachers, teaching assistants and parents who helped them along the way.”

Molly, aged 8, has Rett syndrome and made her card design using her eye gaze technology, with the help of her teaching assistant.

Dougal Houston of Levens CE Primary School came second in the competition, whilst third place went to Ola Slawik from Dean Gibson School in Kendal.
